Heidi Filko, MSW APSW
Heidi is an Advanced Practiced Social Worker who received her master’s degree in clinical social work from the University of Arkansas and her bachelor’s degree from the University of Stevens-Point. She completed her clinical internship with CW Solutions through the family preservation therapy program where she obtained experience working with children, at-risk youth, parents, couples, and families.
Heidi was also a CCS Case manager, providing individual skill development and psychoeducation to both individuals and families. She has also worked as a co-facilitator for a parenting program, youth mentor, nanny, and behavioral technician providing Applied Behavioral Analysis Therapy to children with autism.
Heidi enjoys working with children aged 4+, parents, adults, and families. She often incorporates therapeutic play, art and games into sessions that assist children and youth working toward their goals while actively engaging them in the therapeutic process. She uses a client- centered approach, focusing on client strengths, and therefore utilizes various evidenced-based modalities depending on client strengths, goals, and individual/family dynamics.
A few of the clinical approaches Heidi uses in the therapeutic process are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, Solution- Focused Therapy, and several family-based therapeutic techniques.
