Kara Kay, MA LPC
Kara is a licensed professional counselor who received her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lakeland University and her bachelor’s degree in Sociology-Law, Crime, and Deviance from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. She completed her internship with Compass Counseling while also working as a family preservation psychoeducator.
Kara worked for 12 years as a case manager in family care for adults with mental health challenges and, prior to that, worked as a sign language interpreter and case manager in child protection. In 2021-2022, Kara established a foundation to support sexual assault survivors and ran an event called Rockin’ Resilience to raise money for sexual assault services in Central Wisconsin. Kara believes in a strength-based approach that enables each client to reach their individual therapy goals. She enjoys working with children, adolescents, adults, and couples. Kara has a passion for working with blended families and with those impacted by trauma.

In her free time, Kara enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, kayaking, fishing, and hunting. Kara and her husband have four grown children and two black labs.
